About This Row Counter
Why it exists, what it does, and what it doesn't.
Why I built this
This counter started as a personal problem: I kept losing my place mid-row, usually after getting interrupted, and a physical clicker didn't help much once I had more than one project going at a time — it just tracked a number, not which project the number belonged to. Paper tallies fared even worse; they went missing between the couch cushions and the project bag more often than I'd like to admit.
So I built a simple web-based counter that ties the count to a named project, saves the second you tap it, and doesn't need an account or an app store download. It's a small tool built to solve one specific, recurring annoyance — not a startup, not a platform, just something that works reliably every time you open it.
Who runs this
This site is built and maintained independently — not by a company or a large team. That means updates happen when time allows, support emails are answered by an actual person, and there's no pressure to add features nobody asked for just to justify a subscription. If something is broken or confusing, the fastest way to get it fixed is to say so directly through the contact page.
What this counter does — and doesn't
Free, no account required
No subscriptions, no sign-up wall, no premium tier. Open the page and start counting.
Rows and stitches, tracked together
Both numbers live side by side, since shaping rows usually need both at once.
Multiple named projects
Each project keeps its own row and stitch count. Switching projects never resets anything.
Works for knitting and crochet
A row is a row whether it’s a knit stitch or a crochet stitch underneath it.
Your data stays on your device
Project data is stored in your browser, not on a server, and isn’t sold or shared for advertising.
What it doesn’t do
It’s not a pattern library, a stitch dictionary app, or a place to store PDFs — just a counter, done well.
Beyond the counter
Alongside the tool itself, there's a growing collection of practical guides covering the real situations that trip people up while counting rows — losing your place mid-project, tracking colorwork, matching a second sock to the first, and more.
